My instructional design decisions are shaped by a lifetime rooted in Deaf and interpreter communities and by a career spanning teaching, content development, and learner engagement.
Raised by Deaf parents, educated in Deaf schools, and a graduate of Gallaudet University, the University of California San Diego, and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, I’ve experienced learning through many access points: using interpreters, moving between Deaf and hearing spaces, and connecting with people across cultures and sign languages.
From teaching D/HH students in the classroom to developing, delivering, and promoting learning for thousands of interpreters nationwide, these experiences guide how I design instruction that is thoughtful, inclusive, engaging, and grounded in real-world use.
